The part is an eight-port distributor with biggest wall thickness of 5.6 mm, which absolutely needs to have an excellent cooling system to help shorten cycle time.

The plastic material is DuPont Delrin 100P. After technical discussion, the conclusion is to use German technology “laser generation” to give every core and cavity insert an excellent cooling due to the different and big thickness of part.

The OD (outer diameter) of the core inserts is as small as Φ3.89mm, and ID (inner diameter) of the cooling channel is Φ2.50mm with length of 148.88mm. The OD of the cavity inserts is as small as Φ4.10mm, and ID of the cooling channel is Φ2.50mm with length of 31.10mm. The main cavity insert has an inner spiral cooling channel close to part contour to ensure a perfect part outlook.

For the high production quantity and detailed mold structure, TMT adopted Buderus 1.2344 steel from Germany, heat treated to HRC 48-52, for core and cavity inserts. To guarantee the mold life, TMT offers certificates of the steel and heat treatment from original suppliers.

Following customer’s tooling specification manual, TMT installed components by Germany Meusburger standard. The mold is designed to have four pcs of slides using mechanical actuation system to shorten the mold height to fit into a small machine. For mold safety and precision, a limit switch (Euchner, Germany) is installed at the ejection system.
